Cafe Leona has been serving local heritage cuisine since 1997.It is located at the heart of Vigan, Calle Crisologo near the statue of its owner, Leona Florentino. Leona Florentino is Vigan’s well known Ilocano poet. Cafe Leona serves famous Ilocano specialty dishes like Bagnet (deep-fried pork belly), Sinanglao (beef skin and innards soup) , Fish Tamales (fish wrapped and steamed in banana leaf) together with Japanese, Thai, Italian and continental cuisines!

Cafe Leona has been attracting tourists because of its vintage facade. Just by its looks it can be a historical landmark or a European coffee shop. Cafe Leona is beautifully nostalgic outside and inside.

They didn’t drastically change the original interior. Making it so that it still has the same charm and feel of the old times. It has lovely decorated walls and precious antique tables and chairs. Every corner is like a scene from an old classic movie.

Vigan Longganisa Pizza (Not Vegan)

There’s two prominent kinds of longganisa in the Philippines. One is sweet and the other is a savory garlicky one. Vigan Longganisa is famous for their distinct garlicky taste. It’s made of minced pork, spices and lots of garlic! Imagine a pizza topped with a Vigan Longganisa. Go have a satisfying flavorful bite!

Of course, you can’t leave Vigan without trying a hearty plate of Bagnet! This deep-fried pork belly is a specialty of Ilocanos and an all-time favorite of Filipinos. It is seasoned with garlic, bay leaves, garlic, black peppercorns and salt! 

Sizzling Seafood

Sizzling Pork Sisig is great but a sizzling plate filled with assorted seafood is phenomenal! Take a mouthful of seafood like shrimp, squid, mussels loaded with spices! Be careful though, it’s a pretty hot and spicy dish. This Sizzling Seafood of Cafe Leona can be a perfect dish paired with rice or a tasty pulutan (dish paired with alcoholic beverages)!

Special Bagnet and Bacon Maki

Maki is already good on its own. But wrapped in Bacon with a juicy Bagnet in the center? This sounds too good to be true! This dish is our favorite Cafe Leona foreign dish fused with Ilocano cuisine. At first, you wouldn’t think these two dishes would work but somehow they do! The slightly salty fresh seaweed and rich garlicky Bagnet is harmonious!
